Sizzix Tim Holtz Alteration Solo Shim – Tan / Brown

The Sizzix Solo Shim – Tan / Brown is a polycarbonate or Mylar plastic accessory used with the Solo Platform in classic Sizzix die-cutting machines (such as the Big Shot, BIGkick, and Vagabond). It adds the necessary thickness to "sandwich" thin materials and thin wafer dies for clean cuts and precise embossing.

Purpose and Function

When you use a Sizzix machine, it relies on even pressure applied through steel rollers. Die-cutting thinner materials—like standard paper or lightweight cardstock—requires a slightly thicker sandwich than when using thick steel-rule (Bigz) dies.

The Solo Shim is used in the following layout:

• Level 1 (Base): Sizzix Solo Platform
• Level 2: Solo Shim (Tan / Brown)
• Level 3: Standard Cutting Pad
• Level 4: Material (Paper/Cardstock) & Wafer-Thin Die
• Level 5: Standard Cutting Pad

Compatibility

• Machines: Designed primarily for the original Sizzix Big Shot, BIGkick, and Vagabond machines.
• Dies: Ideal for pairing with thin metal dies (often called wafer-thin, Framelits, or Thinlits).
• Note: Thicker steel-rule dies (Bigz dies) do not require the Solo Shim or the Solo Platform, as they are already thick enough to pass through the machine on their own with just your standard Cutting Pads
