Tim Holtz Distress Grit Paste is a dimensional, gritty texture medium by Ranger Ink used to add tactile, grainy effects to mixed-media projects, scrapbook pages, and crafts. It can be applied directly to porous and non-porous surfaces using a palette knife, brush, or through stencils to create raised textures like stone, mountains, or grout.
Key Variations Available
- Opaque: Dries to a bright, matte white.
- Translucent: Dries clear, allowing the underlying surface or base color to show through.
- Crypt: A granite-tinted translucent medium with flecks of black, perfect for stone or aged, eerie effects.
- Glow: A specialty Halloween-themed paste that holds a bright, glowing effect in the dark.
How to Use Grit Paste
- Stenciling: Spread the paste over a stencil with a palette knife, holding the knife almost horizontally for a flat, even application.
- Customizing Color: The paste can be colorized before application by mixing in acrylic paints, re-inkers, or mica powders. Once dry, you can also color the matte surface using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, inks, and stains.
- Clean-up: Always wash your stencils and palette knives in warm water immediately after use so the paste doesn’t harden on the tools.
